The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha is scheduled to begin on 31 October 2026, about two weeks from now, with the ceremonial flag hoisting (dhwajarohan) at Trimbakeshwar, Ramkund in Nashik and Panchavati, according to Wikipedia and several Kumbh guide sites. The Simhastha is held once in 12 years and is due to conclude on 24 July 2028.

The schedule

The three main bathing days (Amrit Snan) are listed as 2 August 2027, 31 August 2027 and 11 September 2027 at Nashik, with the third also on 12 September 2027 at Trimbakeshwar. One guide site notes that other flag-hoisting dates circulate online, including a July 2027 date, and says the 31 October 2026 date is the one announced after the Chief Minister's review meeting with the akharas. Pilgrims and suppliers should confirm dates with the official Simhastha administration.

What the state has planned

A Free Press Journal report, carried by Curly Tales roughly a year ago, said the Maharashtra government approved a Rs 25,055 crore plan for Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. It covers expansion of Nashik (Ozar) airport, modernisation of eight railway stations, ghat beautification, water projects and improved power supply, and officials said there would be more green spaces, upgraded ghats, better waste management and modern lighting.

Why lighting matters for an event like this

This part is our own analysis, not a claim from the reports. Bathing and processions run through the night and early morning, so ghat approaches, bridges and temporary routes depend on reliable public lighting for crowd safety. That makes street, high mast and decorative lighting a visible part of preparation. We have not seen a published lighting scope or tender list for the Simhastha, so we cannot say what has been procured.
