Mumbai's Municipal Corporation has invited bids worth ₹5 crore for supplying and erecting decorative street light poles, poles fitted specifically for road dividers, and high masts on Old Agra Road and several other locations across the city.
A three-part scope in one tender
Combining decorative poles, divider poles and high masts in one award covers three distinct lighting needs along a busy corridor: ornamental poles for streetscape improvement at pedestrian-facing stretches, slimmer poles fitted into the road median for central divider lighting, and high masts for wide-area coverage at junctions — all under one contractor and one commissioning timeline.
Why Old Agra Road specifically
Old Agra Road runs through some of Mumbai's older, more traffic-dense northern suburbs, making it a natural candidate for a lighting and beautification upgrade that pairs visual improvement with safety-focused high mast coverage at its busier junctions.
Scale of the award
At ₹5 crore, this sits well above a typical single-ward decorative lighting tender, reflecting both the length of road covered and the inclusion of high masts, which cost considerably more per unit than standard decorative poles once foundation, cabling and commissioning are factored in.
Certification and experience bar
Given the contract value, bidders are expected to show BIS-certified LED modules across all three pole types, along with a demonstrated track record on comparable large-scale municipal decorative-and-high-mast lighting works within Mumbai or another major metropolitan corporation area.
